Do you want to fix bleached areas or give dull and forlorn wood surfaces that remarkable walnut lustre? The rich walnut hue brings a feel of comfort and quality in both residential and commercial premises. Getting the Walnut Wood Stain will enable you to achieve your goals. It works on all kinds of wood surfaces- flooring, cabinets, fences and even the wood fascia on your car's dashboard. You can use the Walnut Wood Stain on your favourite seat at home or on your office furniture. It will bring out the elegance in the rocking chair you use to lull your baby to sleep or the piano you create harmonious melodies on. The Walnut Wood Stain will emphasise the wood grain and give it character.

How To Use The Walnut Wood Stain

Staining your wood surface with this product is easy. You can even do it as a DIY project. The Walnut Wood Stain should only be applied on an unsealed surface. This means that you should remove any polish or other finishing that’s on the wood. Usually, only some sanding is required for new installations and unfinished surfaces. For surfaces that have been polished, you may be required to use a stripper. Before you proceed, ensure that the wood surfaces has been thoroughly cleaned. Remove splinters, grime, thoroughly scrub down the wood surface and let it dry. Follow these steps when applying the Walnut Wood Stain:

1. Prepare yourself. The stain is a colour, and if it can permanently stain the wood, it'll do the same to your clothes. So wear something that you won't mind getting a few drops on. Also get your preferred working tools, such as a bristle brush, foam brush or an applicator pad, and some clean rags.

2. Stir the Walnut Wood Stain in its container. Don't shake. You don't want bubbles transferring to your wood surfaces. Stirring enables the dyes and pigments that have settled at the bottom to get redistributed in the container.

3. Apply a thin coat of the Walnut Wood Stain. Use the brush. Alternatively, you can use a soft sponge or roller applicator. Your choice depends on the size of the areas you're working on, and which tool you find most convenient. Work in the direction of the grain. Give it 3-10 minutes to get absorbed and observe the results. You waiting time will be dictated by the level of hue you want on the wood surface. The longer you wait, the deeper it gets. Wipe off the excess using a rag.

4. If you want a darker tone, apply an additional coat. However, first give the previous coat 3 hours to dry.

5. Allow the Walnut Wood Stain to dry completely before resuming normal use of the surface. Light use can be continued after 6 hours, but heavy use should be held off for at least 24 hours.

You can mix different wood stains to develop your own colour. Remember to keep a record of the ratios you use. You may want to repeat the application later on, and you never know when your friends will come along, and want to replicate what you've done on their own wood surfaces. Note that you shouldn't mix oil-based stains and water-based stains. In addition, it's advised that you should only mix products from the same manufacturer.

Tips For Using The Walnut Wood Stain

· Always sand the wood surface before applying the Walnut Wood Stain. This opens up the pores and enables the stain to be absorbed more easily. It also results in a smoother finish. Whether you use a sanding block, sandpaper or an orbital sander, the key for success is sanding a couple of times and progressively using finer grits. Never use steel wool to sand the surface- it'll cause iron stains.

· Test out the Walnut Wood Stain on an inconspicuous area of the wood surface. This is especially if you aren't sure that it's compatible with a particular kind of wood. Doing a spot test also shows you the kind of result that you should expect.

· Some wood surfaces are naturally difficult to apply an even coat. This is due to the nature of their grain and pores. These are the likes of Alder and Aspen, Birch and Pine and Cedar. For such cases, you can use a pre-stain wood conditioner before applying the Walnut Wood Stain. The conditioner also works for softwoods to prevent blotchy patterns from forming.

· When wiping off the excess, work in the direction of the grain. This will enable you to get more stain deeper into the wood pores.

· Do not leave a thick coat on the wood surface. Thick coats do not mean deeper colour. The resultant hue of the wood surface depends on how much stain is absorbed. In addition, thick coats prolong the drying time and increase the chances of dirt and dust in the atmosphere getting trapped in the damp surface. In contrast, you should apply 2 or more thin coats till you get the sheen you desire.

· Always let the wood items dry completely before resuming to use them. For instance, for flooring, don’t place back the furniture or load the deck until you have given the wood surface sufficient time to dry. In case you intend to apply a number of coats, plan your time accordingly.

· In order to enhance the protection of your wood surface, it's recommended that you install a finish (like a sealant or polish) after staining it. You can use either water-based or oil-based finishes after applying the Walnut Wood Stain. However, give it 24 hours to dry.

· Vacuum and clean the wood surface regularly. This simple measure goes a long way in maintaining the sheen provided by the Walnut Wood Stain, and also protects your wood.

· Protect nearby surfaces that you don't want getting the wood stain- like vinyl sidings and concrete. Its best that you shift away movable items until you're done- for pieces like china vases. You can cover other areas using non-absorbent paper.
