Bona Domo Floor Lacquer | How To Use It
The product has to be applied over new or newly sanded surfaces. In some cases, the new Bona Domo Floor Lacquer can be used as an overcoat over pre existing finishes assuming that the surface is in a great condition, dry & slightly abraded.
All pre-existing finishes have to be removed with sandpaper. Follow all the steps and all sanding grits from 40 grit all the way to 100 grit. The surface has to be scratch free, patch free and pretty smooth. Apply 1 coat of primer (whatever colour is required or the natural one), allow 2 hours to dry, abrade lightly with sanding screens grit 150-180, vacuum well and apply the first coat of floor lacquer. The first coat should be dry in about 1-2 hours. Apply the second coat of floor lacquer the same way as the first one and allow 2-4 hours to fully dry before using the surface.
Even new surfaces might require a light sanding to remove imperfections and create an even absorption. If you are planning to overcoat a pre-existing surface, make sure to deep clean the surface, remove all grease, fats, stains, etc. Lightly sand with very fine sanding paper just to create a bit of rough surface so the new lacquer can attach to the old surface.
