Eco White Primer | Why Use It
Some people are sick and tired of brown, yellow or red floors. Some people are trying to prevent yellowing. Other people are looking to match a number of different types of wood colours. For all these people Chimiver has created Eco White Primer. A top of the range quick drying 100% polyurethane white primer available in 1L and 5L bottles. The product looks spectacular, it dries fast and it can be overcoated with any single pack and two pack floor lacquer. Enhance the look of your floors, furniture, doors, frames, window boards, etc, with the new Eco White Primer.
Eco White Primer | Where To Use
The new Eco White Primer can be used on pretty much all types of unsealed wood surfaces. Some very dark types of wood surfaces like walnut, mahogany or some types of dark teak might not look well when sealed with the new Eco White Primer. The primer being white and the wood fibers being very dark, it will create a kind of brownish finish. But oak floors, pine floors, red & white deal, maple, beechwood, etc, will look amazing. The point of the white primer is to equalize colors, blending in a number of distinct types of wood floors, to prevent discolorations on wooden floors, to keep away the yellow from some types of wood surfaces and to enhance the look of the wood surface. As long as the wood surface is sealant free, dry and residue free, the new Eco White Primer can be successfully used on it. Remember, this is just a primer, it requires overcoating with a single pack or a two pack floor lacquer. You can apply as many coats of the white floor primer as you wish until the desired colour is achieved. Suitable for indoor use only.
Eco White Primer | How To Use
The surface has to be 100% sealant free. For the white primer to do its job, it has to penetrate the surface in full. Assuming that the wood surface was sanded, cleaned & vacuumed, you are ready for the first application:
Using a small brush, apply the white primer around the edges and all narrow corners
Using a varnishing roller, apply the white primer on the rest of the floor
Allow about 2 hours to dry and then apply the first coat of floor lacquer
Light sanding with 150-180 grit sandpaper around the edges & vacuuming
Apply the second coat of lacquer
Job done
***Do not apply the new Eco White Primer in patches and do not wait for long periods of time to roll it in. Depending on the type of floor and the temperature of the room, some areas could dry faster than others and then those areas could end up looking whiter than the rest of the room. Priming a 20 sq meter room should take you under 10 minutes***
Eco White Primer | Recommendations
Protect all the surfaces that don't need priming. Use a proper quality varnishing roller. Try to apply an even coat of floor primer. Make sure to have enough white primer to cover the whole area. The recommended coverage area is informative only, the actual coverage area can be much higher or much less, depending on a number of factors. Do not dilute the product before use. Do not apply the product over oiled floors or any types of pre-existing sealers. Always do a small pre-testing patch somewhere in a corner to accommodate yourself with the product. Work in well ventilated areas and never walk on the surface before it is 100% dry. The recommended drying period is below 2 hours, but it can vary from floor to floor and day to day. The way you apply the white primer, the weather, internal temperature and the humidity can increase or decrease the drying period.
