Chimiver Wood Stain 1L | Why Use It

The new range of oil based wood stains are much easier to use and the colours match the natural color of particular types of wood by more than 90%. A professional wood stain like the Chimiver range, will enable the professional or the DIY user to transform cheap floors like pine, into beautiful walnut or teak floors. The product will penetrate the wood deep, it will not glaze the surface and it will not cover the wood fiber. If you are trying to blend in old and new floors or if you are sick and tired of your “yellow” pine floors, then just buy one of the Chimiver Wood Stains and transform your wooden floors. Create a white wash finish with Chimiver Super White Wood Stain or create a classic walnut finish with our new Chimiver Classic Walnut Stain. Your imagination is the limit. Chimiver Wood Stain 1L | Where To Use It

90% of the wood surfaces can be stained without any problems. Most standard types of wood like white deal, red deal, pitch pine, oak, beech wood, walnut, chestnut, etc, can be stained with the new range of professional wood stains from Chimiver. The main type of wood that cannot really be stained with a dark stain is the maple. It can be done but it looks silly because maple wood fiber is very random and the wood stain will make the wood fiber more visible. Basically if you own hardwood floors, semi solid floors, engineered wood floors, wood furniture, frames, doors, window boards, skirting, etc, you can stain it without any problems. Not all types of stains will look well on all types of wood. Staining a cherry wood with a teak stain is pointless, because cherry wood is reddish and the teak stain is kind of reddish, so the stain will not be visible. Chimiver Wood Stain 1L | How To Use It

Remember, a wood stain is only a colour and it requires a sealer over it. We recommend you to use Chimiver Ecostar 2K Floor Lacquer over it. 

1. Make sure that the wood surface is 100% sealant free, dry and residue free

2. If there is a sealant on it or if an old type of wood is being sanded, please start by sanding the surface, starting with 40 grit sanding paper, then move to 60, move to 80 and finish the surface with 100 grit sandpaper. Only sand moving along with the fiber of the wood and not against it. Any marking or area missed, will be very visible after staining. So take your time and check the results in detail.

3. Using a clean cloth and wearing a pair of gloves, start staining the wood. Shake the wood stain tin well and open the tin. Avoid leaks and drips on the floor. Place the cloth in and start rubbing the cloth up and down the fiber of the wood. The wood surface will absorb whatever it can absorb and the excess should be removed fast. Any excess left on the surface will dry patchy. Staining 1 sq meter of floor should take between 5 to 10 seconds. Cloth in the tin, cloth on the floor, move up and down, remove the excess, move along. 

4. Allow it to dry for 1-3 hours, depending on the ventilation and prepare for sealing it. Use a matt lacquer if you would like to preserve the original look of the stain. Use Chimiver Ecostar 2K Floor Lacquer.

***Any cloth used to stain the wood should be soaked in water before being disposed of. All that friction between the floor and the cloth can create a lot of static energy that can ignite the cloth. So place the cloth in a bucket of water for a few seconds***

Chimiver Wood Stain 1L | Recommendations

Buy enough wood stain to be able to cover the whole surface. Try to apply the same pressure all over the floor. Shake the wood stain tin well before use to make sure that the bottom colour mixes with the rest of the oil. Do not touch painted surfaces or carpets. Open all windows and ventilate the room. Do not walk on the wood while the stain is drying. Keep the product away from children. The stain has no protective qualities so don't forget to seal it. From the drop off menu select the colours
