Faber 30 Review
The power of a cleaning agent lies with its formulation- the agents that it uses to tackle the dirt spots and ingrained soiling, and its interaction with the material being treated. When it comes to working using alkaline formulations, it's a combination of chemical and mechanical action. Take saponification for instance. This focuses when dealing with vegetable fats and animal oils. In this case, there is a reaction between the cleaner and these substances- hydrolysis, resulting in the natural fats and oils being converted into fatty acids and glycerol. The fatty acids further react with the alkaline solution and become water soluble. This makes them easily removable from the surface through rinsing. Then there is the detergent action, in which case the solid and liquid soiling is displaced from the surface being treated as a result of the surfactants in the formulation. Through emulsification, on the other hand, the oils and fats are suspended in tiny globules within the solution, further aided by the surfactants which lower the surface tension. The emulsified fats and oils can then be rinsed away. Add to this solubilisation, where some of the soiling is directly dissolved within the solution. These all come together to break down and remove the gunk that has been building up on the surface.
Which product do you go for? No doubt you want one that assures you of its quality, and that has been trusted by consumers around the world. You also want one that will not put your installations at risk. Your goal is to get rid of the dirt and grime, not watch the surfaces get corroded in the process. Faber, the renowned surface care company with over 3 decades of operations, has provided the Faber 30, designed to provide an all-round clean.
Benefits Of The Faber 30
- Deep clean
The alkaline-based Faber 30 is tough on the dirt, getting rid of those stubborn spots and ingrained soiling that is on the surfaces. Oils and fat deposits are converted into water-soluble compounds- making them easy to remove, and through its solvent action it breaks up the grease residue, and thereafter through emulsification suspends the particles, allowing them to be rinsed off the surface. It penetrates the material and displaces the gunk that is building up, and can even be used to remove rubber marks and tyre residue. Routine cleaning, working on those highly trafficked areas- be it foot traffic or vehicle like in car parks, cleaning floor coverings like epoxy and PVC- the Faber 30 has got you covered.
- Versatile formulation
The Faber 30 can be used both indoors and outdoors. It’s suitable for treating surfaces ranging from marble and its agglomerates such as marble-cement, marble-resin and marble-quartz, limestone, ceramics be they glazed or craquelé, slate, tuff, travertine, sandstone and molten basalt, terracotta, reconstituted/eco stone, concrete, cementine, cotto, clinker, to the different kinds of porcelain stoneware, like lapped, polished, natural and textured. When it comes to the abrasive discs and brushes to use during treatment, take into account the kind of dirt to be removed, and the kind of surface that is being worked on. For instance, with the polished and delicate surfaces such as marble and limestone, plus glazed materials, use a white pad. For the unpolished and rough surfaces, such as concrete, terracotta and cotto, go with a light blue or green pad.
- Value for your money
The Faber 30 gives you optimal usage for every unit you purchase. For starters, it has a wide 10-15 m² per litre coverage rate. The product itself can be used as is or diluted, depending on the absorption rate of the surface being treated, and the level of soiling involved. For instance, if you’re dealing with stubborn resin, polymers or wax, or even in the final stages a wax stripping, then you can dilute the product to 50%. In case you’re working on concrete, cotto and other absorbent surfaces, you can use the Faber 30 undiluted. Are you dealing with stubborn residue that requires a strong degreaser to remove, or in the middle of worksite cleaning where the items in question are sensitive to acids? Then you can turn to the Faber 30, diluted in clean water, with 1 part of the product being mixed with 2-4 parts of water. On the other hand, for the occasional simple degreasing, then you can dilute it to 10% (1:9 dilution ratio). This flexible application means that you get to avoid wastage. Coupled with the affordable pricing of the product itself, it serves to cut down on your establishment’s cleaning and maintenance costs.
- Quick cleaning
After diluting the product based on your particular requirements, simply apply the product evenly onto the surface. Common tools for this are brushes, and equipment like the single disc machine. Cloths and mops too can be used depending on the size of the area you’re working on, and what you find to be most convenient for you. After the application, allow it to take 10-15 minutes on the surface, during which time it will emulsify the grease residue and dissolve those stubborn dirt spots. You can also contribute to this action by passing the brush or single disc machine over the area, but at regular time intervals- more or less 10 to 15 minutes too. For the absorbent surfaces, you may be required to add more of the solution to the surface, since the material will have absorbed part of it. The goal is to ensure that the surface is always covered in the solution during the treatment.
After the waiting time is over, remove the emulsion that’s on the surface. This is achieved by pouring clean water onto it, distributing it with the brush/single-disc machine, then using a liquid vacuum cleaner to extract the contents. Cloths and absorbent paper towels too can be used for the sections with smaller surface area. Thereafter, rinse the region with clean water, and let it dry. It will be ready to use immediately. In case the process needs to be repeated for the really stubborn grime, first allow the preceding treatment and rinsing to dry off.
