Cleaning is not always enough. You can be pondering over your floors, countertops and other natural stone surfaces in the residence or commercial space, due to that dingy look that doesn’t go even after a thorough cleaning. That dilapidated state is actually as a result of the treatments that had been applied on it wearing down. Sure the typical sealers and wax coatings were shiny at first, drawing the admiration of anyone who got into the room. However, after some years, they begin yellowing, and also develop scratches and scuff marks. In this state, they even attract dirt, making the area appear deteriorated at a faster rate. They may even be blocking the natural stone's breathability, resulting in spalling, where the stone cracks, pops, or shales/flakes. Here, for you to truly clean or refinish the waxed surface, first it will need to be stripped. Removing the coatings applied on it, those acrylic sealers, polyurethanes and janitorial waxes will restore the natural beauty of the stone, and thereafter you can decide on how you want it honed and finished. For this task, you want a product that you can carry out a thorough job. That’s right up the alley of the Dec 21.

This is a product from Faber, which has been providing surface care solutions for over 30 years, serving international markets spanning across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Trusted by builders, contractors, cleaning crews, end users and those keen on DIY projects, the formulations are developed to be effective while ensuring the safety of the material. Add to this achievements like ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 from the Certiquality Certification Body, and you can rest assured that you’re dealing with a trusted brand.

Benefits Of The Faber Dec 21

  1. Super wax stripping action

This formulation strips away the organic and synthetic wax with ease, revealing the bare surface underneath. Consisting of a blend of wetting agents and organic solvents, you can use the Faber Dec 21 to get rid of sealants, impregnators, plus the water-based and solvent-based treatments that are on the material. It comes in quite handy during cleaning too, especially for those cases where you’re dealing with heavy build ups of oily dirt, or there are greasy stains on the surface. It will dissolve the substances, allowing them to be removed from the surface. It can also be used together with alkaline-based degreasers such as the Faber Decera/P or CottoSolv, for the double wax stripping process.

  1. Versatile

The wax stripping and removal of oily stains is carried out without damaging the underlying surface, or changing its appearance. The Faber Dec 21 can be used on basaltina - lava stone, slate, molten basalt, marble-cement, marble-resin and marble-quartz agglomerates, concrete, sandstone, and cementine, both craquelé and glazed ceramics, all through to granite, clinker, cotto, to the different kinds of porcelain stoneware, including textured, lapped, polished and natural porcelain stoneware. It even works on limestone, porphyry, travertine, reconstituted stone (eco stone), quartzite itself, plus terracotta installations.

  1. Efficient application

The Faber Dec 21 has been designed to do the heavy lifting for you. The product dissolves the wax and heavy residue on the surfaces chemically. All you need to do is apply it onto the surface and distribute it using a large brush or single disc machine, and allow it some time to get the task done- usually 10 to 15 minutes. You don’t even need to dilute the formulation. Passing over the surface with the machine or brush will provide an extra boost, due to the mechanical action. This, however, shouldn’t be continuous. Use regular time intervals, in order to allow the product itself to carry out its mandate. In addition, always ensure that the entire surface being worked on has been covered by an even layer of the product. All that’s left is pouring water onto the surface, extracting the emulsion formed using a wet vacuum or absorbent cloths and paper towels, then finally rinsing it.

When it comes to the double wax stripping, start by applying the Faber Dec 21 onto the surface, give it the 10-15 minutes to do its thing, then add the CottoSolv or Decera/P alkaline degreasers. These too should be given similar time intervals after application. Passing your single disc machine, or some scrubbing action too, done at regular intervals, will speed things up. Thereafter, pour water onto the surface, use your wet vacuum to remove the contents, then rinse it. In both kinds of applications, there are a couple of issues that you should note:

    • The surface being worked on should first be swept or vacuumed, in order to remove the dust and loose debris. This allows the Faber Dec 21 to focus on the wax and stubborn grease.

    • Work in small sections at a time. Dividing up the area will enable you to optimise the usage of the product. How you go about this depends on how absorbent the surface is. Those with a high rate, like terracotta and cotto, divide it up to sections of 4 to 5m2 at a time. For the polished stone and ceramics tiles, you can work in larger sections, according to your capacity and the equipment that you’re using.

    • Since the surface should remain covered with the Faber Dec 21 all through the treatment, there will be situations where you will need to add more product onto the surface- especially when you’re dealing with very absorbent material.

    • Should you want to repeat the process, the floor, worktops or other surfaces you’re working on should first be allowed to dry off after the initial application and rinsing.

    • The equipment used for the process should be cleaned with white spirit after you’re done.

  1. Budget-friendly

The pricing of the Faber Dec 21 has been structured to be easy on your wallet. With the different packages, of 1L bottles and 5L cans, you also get to work with the option that meets your establishment’s needs. Add to this a 10 to 20m2/L coverage rate, and you get to work on more surface with each unit you purchase.
