Many people own marble and granite worktops. These people are fully aware how expensive it can be to hire a professional worktop polishing company. This worktop polishing kit was developed by Diafil Italy and it contains all the necessary products to be able to remove scratches, dull patches & polish a worktop to perfection. It can be used by professionals and DIY users. There is no special training required but a bit of knowledge is needed about use of the pads from the lower grits to the higher grits. Diafil Worktop Polishing Kit | Where To Use It

Assessing the worktop and selecting the most appropriate pad to start is the most essential step. Some worktops might look like marble but it could only be glazing. Establishing the type of material is very important. Using a diamond polishing pad on a plastic or porcelain topping can cause permanent damage to the surface. 

The new Diafil Worktop Polishing Kit can be used to restore, polish or maintain all marble, travertine and granite worktops, stair cases, marble skirtings, statues, window frames, etc. The pads can be easily used on all vertical and horizontal surfaces. Suitable for indoor and outdoor surfaces. Do not use the pads on any other surfaces other than marble, travertine or granite.

Diafil Worktop Polishing Kit | How To Use It

To be able to use the kit you will need a small grinder to fit the velcro pad holder that is supplied with the kit. A variable speed grinder is much better to avoid splashes. Inside the kit you will find pads starting from 60 grit all the way to 1800 grit. For heavy duty worktop restoration you should start from 60 grit pad and finish the surface with 1800. For light polishing and maintenance it is up to the user to assess the level of scratches and imperfections and select the most appropriate pad. If the surface is in decent shape, then the user should start with pad 400-800 instead of 60 grit.

Use all the pads on a wet surface. As the surface is being buffed, the water will turn up in a white creamy composition. Remove it and move along. Apply the same level of pressure all over the surface. Do not skip grits. If you start with grit 60 or 120, do not move to grit 1800. The scratches made by the rough pads cannot be removed by the super fine 1800 pad. So follow through all the grits. When done with all the grits, prepare for applying the polishing powder. Two containers with powder are provided with the kit. The yellow one is for marble and travertine while the grey one is for granite. 

Apply 2 scoops of powder and wet it nicely. Using a white pad or the grey pad that is provided with the kit, buff in the power. Buff for about 10 min while maintaining the surface wet. Now remove the residue, wash the worktop a few times and allow it to dry. Do a high speed buff with the Lux pad and the worktop should be restored.
