The handle will enable you to roll the roller more efficiently and you will also be able to cover a larger area without moving a lot. If you are varnishing large floor areas, you should use a varnishing bucket or a special tray. Pour the lacquer or varnish into the tray/bucket and place the roller in it. Roll off the excess and start applying the lacquer to the floor. Roll it until the roller dries up and it needs refilling. When done, clean all your tools and equipment.
