If you have wooden floors or wooden furniture that is sealant free and in need of a natural looking sealer, then the new Osmo Polyx-Oil Original Clear Matt is the right sealer for you. This outstanding quality hardwax oil is suitable for wooden floors with constant traffic, staircases, furniture, kids toys, worktops, window sills, doors, frames, etc. Its main advantage is that particular areas with higher traffic, that are likely to wear off faster, can be refreshed individually. The new Osmo Polyx-Oil Original Clear Matt is suitable for indoor use only. To be applied in a two coats system over a sealant free, dust free and dry surface.

Osmo Polyx-Oil Original Clear Matt | How To Use It

Nothing easier than to apply the new Osmo Polyx-Oil Original Clear Matt to the surface. The secret is to apply just enough product to seal the surface but no more than needed to avoid making the surface sticky. A wooden surface has some level of porosity or absorbency, when the wood has absorbed enough oil to be fully sealed, the excess has nowhere to go. So oil the surface and remove the excess, it is that easy. Every 6 months or so, refresh the oil with one more coat of oil.

Start with the corners or all the narrow places. Shake the tin well to create an evenly mixed colour and place a cloth inside the oil. Allow the cloth to absorb the oil and then use the cloth to transfer the oil from the cloth to the floor itself. You will notice that the floor is thirsty initially and then it becomes less thirsty. Move along and oil the whole surface. Now you can use another cloth to remove any excess oil and to make sure that the surface is oiled but there are no puddles of oil on it. If the floor was oiled well, it should fully dry within 6-12 hours. The next coat will be even less absorbent so you will cover even more with 1L. Quick touch, the oil penetrates & you remove the excess. The two coats of oil should be fully dry within 48 hours. Do not wash the floor for at least 48 hours until the oil is fully cured.

Remember to refresh your oil floors or furniture once or twice per year. Even if you do not use the area, the natural oil is likely to evaporate. Use only Osmo oiled floor cleaners and do not scrub the surface with aggressive scourers. Remove spillages as they happen. Use a microfiber cloth or a paper towel.
