A Look At The Faber ABR 600

When it comes to polishing your natural stone surfaces, you want to work with a product that gets the task done without you having to spend hours on it. A quick and effective solution that you can employ to reduce the amount of resources that are typical of the conventional mechanical techniques. This is while also taking the safety of the material being worked on into consideration. After all, you don’t want to corrode the natural stone in your efforts to restore a shine to the surface. Faber has got you covered with the ABR 600. This product has been formulated to be suitable for a wide range of surfaces, both indoors and outdoors. These include marble and its agglomerates such as marble-cement and marble-resin agglomerates, granite, glazed ceramics, travertine, to polished, natural, textured and lapped porcelain stoneware, limestone, plus quartz-resin agglomerates.

Multipurpose cream

This formulation is based on micro-abrasive polishing elements. It can be incorporated into different parts of the polishing process, based on the surface you’re working on, and the intended purpose. For example, you may want to remove scratches and scuff marks, and prepare the floor to be polished using chemical formulations. The Faber ABR 600 comes in to be used in place of the intermediate grain sizes- the likes of diamond resin pads rated at size 400 to 800, that are used during mechanical polishing. This is also the case for those scenarios where traditional systems are not applicable, like when you’re working on an area that has already been furnished, or other elements have been set up, or floors with lippage and the levels and corresponding grout widths are different. In such instances, it wouldn't be possible to lug around heavy machinery.

You may simply want to cut down on the large amounts of water and other resources that are used when carrying out mechanical polishing. For brushed natural stone, the Faber ABR 600 will even clean the surface, and you also get to use it in place of the mechanical brushing method. When it comes to ceramic floors, plus porcelain or textured stoneware, the ABR 600 goes beyond to enhance the dirt resistance attributes of the surface. It will also soften the extremely rough material, which has the welcome benefit of reducing dirt build up on the surface. At 30 to 40m2 per kg, each unit purchased gets to work on a wide surface area, which makes it a cost-effective approach to enhancing your polishing processes.

There are also those cases where you’re aiming for a honing effect. In these situations, the surfaces are already polished, but don’t have a shine. The Faber ABR 600 comes in to give them a matt finish, which is soft and even. What's more, when using this abrasive cream, you won’t have to worry about the scratching that is associated with mechanical polishing systems.

On the other hand, you may actually be looking to reduce the shine. The Faber ABR 600 will be up to the task. In fact, working with it enables you to avoid using acid-based products that would put the surface at risk, or deal with taxing mechanical processes. It also complements other products. For instance, you can use it with the K100 when restoring the deep surface aggressions on surfaces that have been buffed, for those cases where you want to enhance the effectiveness of the product.

How To Use The Faber ABR 600

As is with every other surface care treatment, you don’t want dirt getting in the way. As such, you’ll first need to clean the surface, getting rid of any dust, grime and other particles that are on it. Remember to cover sections that are adjacent to the surface, but not to be treated. Once ready, follow these steps:

  1. Shake the Faber ABR 600 bottle well, to even out the formulation.

  2. Apply 23 spoons of the product onto the section you're working on. Ideally, this should be enough for every 2 m2 of surface.

  3. Add some water to the cream- a 1:1 ratio should suffice, such as each spoonful of cream going with 1 spoon of clean water.

  4. Spread the cream onto the surface, ensuring you cover the entire area evenly. Common equipment used for this process are manual rotary brushes, or a single disc machine rated at 1.5 HP and above. For the single disc machine, fit it with a white pad, and set it to 150 - 200 rpm.

Note that the mix should remain creamy all through the process. When it begins to dry up, simply add some water.

  1. Continue with the passes over the surface until you obtain the desired result. You can assess this by simply using a mop to remove the cream from a small area that you’ve already worked on. Usually, it takes 15 to 25 passes with the polisher to obtain satisfactory results.

  2. Vacuum the surface to remove any residue. Alternatively, you can rinse it with lots of water.

  3. Allow to dry. The surface will be ready to use.

Tips To Optimize Working With The Faber ABR 600

  • Carrying out a spot test on a small and unexposed area is advised, especially for cases where you're not sure if the product is compatible with your particular type of surface.

  • While you can work on the whole area at a go, it's recommended that you divide it up into smaller sections that are more easier to manage- like of 2 m2 each, that way the application will be a breeze. When passing your single disc machine over the area, try to cover each section the same number of times as the rest.

  • Always ensure the surface is dry before applying the Faber ABR 600. It also shouldn’t be overly heated, with the ideal temperature range for the surface being 5°C to 40°C

  • When it comes to maintaining surfaces treated with the Faber ABR 600, it’s recommended that you use the following products: AlgaFloor or Neugel for the routine cleaning, and Deterfug or Faber 30 when dealing with stubborn soiling and heavy build-ups of grime.
