Why Faber Deep Protector Matters For Your Tiles

Surfaces in homes and business environments come under different threats. Those with high absorbency have one key problem: water absorption. Readily soaking up water can lead to the gradual deterioration of the structure. This ranges from staining and efflorescence to weakening of the structural integrity of the installation. The water can be from issues like spills or rising damp, bringing forth the need to have preventive measures put in place to avoid expensive damages. The more moisture that is in the structure, the greater the risk of mould and mildew growing. These open a Pandora’s Box of health problems, ranging from allergic reactions to systemic issues caused by the mycotoxins they produce. Rectifying these issues is a costly endeavour, and in many cases the entire affected tiles may need to be removed – especially if the water damage is extensive. When there are cracks or fissures in the structure, the risks increase dramatically. These sections provide collection points and entryways of more water into the material. Faber, a household name in the surface care industry with a track record going back to the late 1980s, has provided different formulations to tackle this problem. One of the leading solutions is the Faber Deep Protector, developed especially for absorbent tiles.

High-grade Anti-Absorption Capacity

The purpose of this formulation is to prevent water from infiltrating into tiles and being absorbed by the material – and it delivers on its mandate. The impregnating treatment gets deep into the tiles, and protects them from water damage, rising damp, and the destruction they cause on absorbent surfaces. That way you won’t have cases of mould, mildew, algae and other growths getting a solid footing on your surfaces. You also get to avoid issues like water stains, efflorescence as well as superficial detachments that would have resulted.

The high efficacy of the Faber Deep Protector makes it beneficial in preventing water from being absorbed through the tile joints and cracks. Its application even extends to limiting water absorption during the grouting and washing operations of materials such as cotto, preventing issues like grout stains from occurring. This treatment can be used on both indoor and outdoor surfaces, with attributes such as high resistance to UV rays as well as weather elements.

Surface Care Made Easy

The Faber Deep Protector is ideal for absorbent surfaces, including those made from natural stone, to ceramics, porcelain stoneware and cement. It sets deep into the material, and since it is technically “invisible”, does not alter the existing colour and tone of the treated surface. It maintains the appearance and breathability of the structure, without comprising on the desired level of protection. the penetrating capacity of the Faber Deep Protector also means that you won’t have to deal with a surface film being left behind on the surface. Sure, it’s a solvent-based product, but in this case you won’t have to be dreadful of the treatment turning yellow over time, as is the case with other solvent-based products out there. This formation has been specifically developed to resist the effect, retaining the original appearance of the tiles for the long haul.

While the Faber Deep Protector prevents water damage on one hand, it also features dirt-resisting properties. Here, it prevents dirt and grime from penetrating into the surfaces and setting into the material. That way, the subsequent cleaning tasks that are to follow will be simpler, and the resources used for the task will be minimised. Speaking of which, surfaces that have been treated with the Faber Deep Protector can be safely cleaned with products such as the Floor Cleaner or Neutral Cleaner, which are also from Faber. The choice of product to work with will depend on the particular type of the surface being worked on.

The protective attributes of the formulation, where you get to avoid damage to the structure and costly repairs later on, translate in more savings being made. Speaking of costs, the Faber Deep Protector retails at pocket-friendly prices, coming in 1L bottles (12 bottles per box). Each litre of product can be used on an area as wide as 10-15m², depending on how absorbent the tiles being worked on are.

Working With The Faber Deep Protector

The application is easy and quick, and can be done with different sorts of equipment – including a roller, brush, cloth or lambswool applicator. Follow these steps to get the task done:

  1. Give the surface a thorough wash. Dirt and grime can ruin the quality of the results, such as in the unfortunate cases where they get trapped by the wet coats of surface treatment products being used.

Allow the surface to dry.

  1. Apply a thin, even layer of Faber Deep Protector onto the surface. Emphasis is on ensuring that the coat applied is uniform all through. The product on sections with build-up can be redistributed to even it up.

  2. Let the treatment dry. This is a fast drying formulation, and here it will take just 1 hour of waiting time. The formulation will penetrate into the structure, drying without leaving behind any film of residue.

Should you be working on very absorbent tiles, then a second coat may need to be applied. This can be done after the 1 hour drying time has been allowed.

For cases where you were treating floors with the Faber Deep Protector, then allow at least 4-6 hours before letting people walk back to the area.

As a general rule of thumb when it comes to surface care, it is important to conduct an initial test before proceeding to use the product on the entire target surface. This test is preferably done on a hidden section, or even on an unused piece of tile. That way you can assess the impact that the particular treatment will have. When satisfied with the result, you can continue with the rest of the application. Note that the Faber Deep Protector should not be applied on wet, or overly heated surfaces.
