Professional Natural Stone Care With Faber Soap

Polishing natural stone surfaces is a key part of their maintenance. For starters, it increases the compression strength and the hardness of the surface, making it more resistant to everyday abrasion, plus the impact of objects that occasionally fall onto it. What’s more, the polished surfaces are much easier to handle when it comes to cleaning, since they don’t stain as easily as the unpolished surfaces. With the surface being less susceptible to issues like cracking and chipping, it prolongs the life of your installation. Then there is the aesthetic appeal. Core to the polishing process is the shiny result that is obtained. The light bounces off the floor surface, enhancing the ambience of the interior space. Whether it is in the living room, kitchen or the walkways, it adds to the positive impression that one gets the moment they walk into a room. There are also those who opt for a honed finish. Here, it ends up with a matte result, where the natural stone surface is less slippery, and is typically for those areas that are prone to getting wet, and handle high levels of traffic. It sets a warm and neutral background where other decorative touches can be added. One of the main draws to honed surfaces is that they are less likely to show etchings and water marks, reducing the effort that goes into the maintenance. Which route have you chosen for your natural floor installation? Be it polished or honed, protecting it is key, and that’s where one turns to the Faber Soap.

Cleaning polished surfaces

This concentrated cleaner has been particularly developed for natural stone surfaces that have been honed or polished, whether mechanically or chemically. It is used during the final clean-up stage after the floor installation or renovation, when you have just completed giving the surface that shine, and the next step is cleaning it before allowing foot traffic on it. However, the Faber Soap is not just limited to this situation. Its cleaning action allows it to also be used for day-to-day floor cleaning, as it will get rid of the dirt while still maintaining the shine of the floor. In fact, its sheen-increasing action adds to the appeal of the surface. This formulation achieves this while simultaneously setting a lovely scent that accentuates the interior space.

Safety is also key. After all, you want to clean the natural stone surfaces without putting their structural integrity at risk. The Faber Soap comes with a neutral pH, and it can be used on the sensitive natural stone installations such as marble, travertine and limestone. It gets the task done without damaging the material being worked on, and can be used both indoors and outdoors. Whether you’re cleaning granite, concrete, quart-resin agglomerate or polished porcelain tile floors, dealing with marble-cement or marble-resin surfaces, the Faber Soap will be up to the task. It is friendly to your budget, with its wide 900- 1100 m2 per litre application rate, plus the affordable pricing of both the 1L and 5L bottles.

Working With The Faber Soap

This product can be applied manually- using a mop and a microfibre cloth for the cleaning and dusting respectively; or mechanically with units like single disc machines, when you’re working on larger floor areas. Follow these steps for the two modes of approach:

  • Mop system
  • Begin by diluting the Faber Soap, where 2-3 caps will be enough for every 5L of water.
  • Dip the mop into the solution, and wring it well, then proceed to clean the surface. Ensure that you obtain a uniform application.
  • Allow the floor to dry completely.

Any dusty residue can then be quickly wiped off with a dry microfiber cloth.

  • Using a single disc machine
  • Dilute the Faber Soap with the same ratio, with the solution being put in the water tank of the machine.
  • Divide up the area you’re working on into manageable sections, which are washed for 10 to 15 seconds each.
  • Use a wet vacuum to extract the residue. However, if the product has already dried, a quick brushing using a dry and clean white pad will get rid of the residue.

Note that after treating the surface, you won’t need to rinse it- as long as you have followed the recommended dilution ratios. Once you’re done with the application, the tools used for the task can be cleaned using water.
