Faber Safe Marble Review

Slippery floors pose significant risks for accidents at home, especially for children and the elderly, as well as in businesses where foot traffic is high, leading to workplace injuries and complaints. Cleaning contractors also face challenges when innocent bystanders slip and fall. Such accidents can result in a range of injuries, from minor bruises to serious conditions like sprains, fractures, and concussions, highlighting the need for safety measures to prevent these incidents.

Floors can be slippery for various reasons, such as improper cleaning chemicals, soiled tools, insufficient finishing coats, or the inherent nature of materials like marble and limestone, which become particularly hazardous when wet. These elegant surfaces are commonly found in diverse settings, including entryways, kitchens, and medical facilities, posing safety risks. Faber Safe Marble has been developed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of such installations while ensuring safety for those in the premises.

Benefits Of The Faber Safe Marble

  • Enhances grip

This is its core mandate, and the water-based formulation delivers on it. It creates micro-erosions on the surface onto which it has been applied. Don’t fret- these are invisible to the naked eye, but still highly effective. In fact, they also boost water run-off, thus increasing grip even in wet conditions for both cases of persons walking barefoot and with footwear. By achieving this, Faber Safe Marble prevents slip and fall accidents- a particular concern for lime-based installations whether on indoor or outdoor surfaces. It does this without creating a film on the surface, and lasts for long, providing treatment for extended periods.

  • Formulated for lime-based materials

These are by nature particularly troublesome to treat. However, Faber has developed the Safe Marble for effective application on them, to provide the non-slip attributes without also altering their colour. It achieves this while simultaneously enhancing their water-repellent properties. The product can be used on limestone, travertine, and agglomerates like marble-cement and marble-resin. It acts directly on the material, and you won’t have to worry about it affecting the structural integrity of your installation.

  • Comes ready-to-use

Faber Safe Marble requires no dilution and can be applied using brushes, rollers, or lambswool applicators. Apply liberally for an even layer, ensuring the surface remains wet during the short curing period by redistributing or adding more product as needed for a uniform, non-slip finish. Work in manageable sections and avoid application on damp surfaces or under direct sunlight; the coolest times of day are best. Pre-existing wax or resin treatments should be removed, and the floor must be thoroughly cleaned before application.

Floors treated with Faber Safe Marble are ready for use in under an hour, with soft marble and limestone surfaces curing in 10-20 minutes and harder lime-based floors in 15-30 minutes. After the curing period, excess product should be removed and the surface rinsed with water before allowing foot traffic. The curing time may vary based on the floor’s composition and hardness, and if results are not satisfactory after 30 minutes, adjustments can be made in 10-minute intervals.

Conduct a preliminary test in a concealed area or on an unused material to determine the appropriate contact time after applying Faber Safe Marble. This will guide the treatment of the entire floor. After rinsing the test area, evaluate the results to avoid residue affecting your assessment. Test the surface in wet conditions and simulate foot traffic by pressing down with your fingertips to evaluate grip.

You can get the Faber Safe Marble in affordable 1L bottles, 5L cans, or the larger 10L cans. This depends on the maintenance needs of your establishment, and the size of the floor area that you have to cover. The formulation itself has a wide 20-30 m²/L coverage rate, hence each unit gets to provide you with optimal surface treatment. Avoiding the medical costs, and liabilities from workplace injury claims that would have resulted from slip-and-fall accidents, is a welcome bonus
