The unequalled Chimiver Ecostar 2K Natural is a professional quality water based floor lacquer compatible with all high traffic wood floors, all interior wood furniture, wood frames, wood doors, wood toys and all other wood surfaces. The product is fume free so it can be used even in areas with little or no ventilation. Also suitable for sealing and protecting residential hardwood floors.
Chimiver Ecostar 2K Natural | How To Use It
You have purchased a natural looking high traffic water based floor lacquer because you are looking for a natural finish. To obtain that, you will need to make sure that the wood surface is sealant free, clean and finished with 100 grit sandpaper. Even brand new wood floors that were not sealed before will require a fine sanding before applying the product. Do not use a primer or a stain if you are looking for a non glazed and non “artificial” looking finish.
- The surface has to be sanded and all pre-existing finishes removed. The final sanding should be done with 100 grit sanding paper. Do not sand against the fiber of the wood
- Vacuum the whole floor a number of times until even the finest grain of dust is extracted. Use a flat microfiber mop head to remove even more dust.
- Mix up the lacquer with the hardener while mixing up the composition. You will have to use the mixture within 2 hours otherwise it will get hard.
- Using a soft varnishing brush, varnish all the edges and all the areas where the varnishing roller cannot fit. Apply a generous amount of lacquer while rolling the varnishing roller up and down along with the fiber of the wood. The surface has to look wet but not over-wet.
- Allow it to dry for up to 2 hours (depending on the ventilation)
- Re-sand the whole surface with 150-180 grit sandpaper to remove all the imperfections from the surface
- Apply the last coat of floor lacquer and do not walk on the floor for at least 5 hours. The curing time is anything between 12 to 24 hours.
Chimiver Ecostar 2K Natural | Recommendation
Make sure to mix up the floor lacquer with the hardener and also make sure to use the composition within 2 hours. Do not apply the product over pre-existing finishes. Do not walk on the surface while wet. Do not sand up the floor between the coats unless the floor is fully dry. Do not apply more than 2 coats. Wash all your tools and rollers as soon as you are done with it. Store the product in a cool and dry place.
