Stain Proofing Action With The Faber Hidro 150

Flooring, be it natural stone, terracotta, or the manmade agglomerates, is pricy to install. Lots of time and resources go into selecting the material that is suitable for your home or business premises, having the slabs or tiles delivered, the costs with the installation crew, to the polishing and honing process that brings out the desired aesthetic look. It’s not just with the floors. From the building’s walls, to the worktops where meals are prepared- they are all quite the hassle to set up. It’s worth it, given the enhanced ambience, the durable nature of the materials that sees them withstand years of heavy use, plus attributes such as the colouration and grain patterns that add character to the space. It’s all fine and dandy- up until that moment when there is a spill. It can be caused by anything- perhaps it was during the morning rush as you were preparing to go to work and accidentally lost grip of the coffee mug, sending its contents spilling over the floor. Do you have kids? Yoghurt stains, chocolate milk, soft drinks- they can end up making a mess on the surfaces. As you prepare those sumptuous dishes in the kitchen, sections like the countertops will be exposed to a wide range of stains. You may have even be a situation where the furniture was being renovated, and the dye or varnish being used wound up staining the surrounding floor. Blood spots in case a person on the premises has had an injury, vomit incidences when guys coming home from a party have had one-too-many drinks and end up hurling out their guts, tea and wine that form stubborn stains, to issues like pet urine stains- these take away the appeal of your installation. It’s made worse by the absorbent nature of the surface. The porosity causes it to soak up the spills, and the deeper they get into the material, the more difficult they are to remove. The oil-based and water-based stains adhere to the structure, making a mockery of all the effort that went into setting up the installation. Measures like applying the Faber Hidro 150 enable you to prevent stains from wreaking havoc on your surfaces.

Long-lasting protection

This high-performance formulation has been developed to protect the treated surfaces from stains. It has water-repellent and oil-repellent properties, thus warding off stains from everyday spills. It keeps them from bonding with the surface, making the routine cleaning and maintenance process much easier. That way you won’t keep getting into a fit whenever a cup of tea or glass of wine gets knocked over, or watch in horror as cooking oil, salad dressing or margarine stains ruin your natural stone surfaces. Ink, makeup and moisturisers, beverages and even motor oil on the garage floor- treating your surfaces with this protective formulation will provide protection to your installations. For the routine cleaning, it is recommended that you turn to units like AlgaFLoor or Neugel, and for those cases where an extra punch is needed, the Faber 30 or Deterfug can be used, depending on the type of stone that is being worked on.

The Faber Hidro 150 delivers on its mandate without affecting the aesthetic appeal of your installations. It doesn’t form a surface film, or alter the colouration of the material. The product itself has also been developed to be resistant to the sun’s UV rays, and it does not yellow. This maintains the beauty of the surface, while simultaneously protecting it from the unsightly spots that would result from stains setting deep into the structure. The Faber Hidro 150 also preserves the breathability of the natural stone. This water-based formulation can be used to treat different types of surfaces, from granite, marble, and limestone, to quartzite, terracotta, and even agglomerates such as marble-cement and quartz-resin. It can even be safely applied on the surfaces where foods are prepared, allowing you to bring the stain-proofing properties to kitchen worktops which are highly susceptible to spills.

How To Use The Faber Hidro 150

First, you’ll want to prepare the surface to ensure that it is ready for the treatment. Giving it a thorough clean to get rid of the soiling and gunk that is on it is vital. Rinse the surface and wait for it to dry, then you can proceed with the rest of the process with these steps:

  1. Apply a thin coat of the product onto the target surface. Different tools can be used for this, such as brushes, rollers, lambswool applicators, cloths and airless applicators. Ensure that you have applied an even layer, covering the entire area.

  2. Allow to dry. This will take about an hour. Foot traffic can be allowed back onto the area 2-3 hours after application.

After you’re done, you can wash the tools used with water. In case you’re dealing with a surface that is highly absorbent, you can add a second layer of the product after at least 45 minutes. The Faber Hidro 150 is fast drying, and usually doesn’t leave behind any residue. However, in case you’re treating a surface that has a low absorbency, there may be slight residue. This can be simply wiped off with a cloth.

Measures to observe when using the Faber Hidro 150

  • The formulation should not be applied onto wet surfaces. However, they can be slightly damp. The goal is to ensure that the surface being treated is as dry as possible.

  • The surface should also not be overly heated. The temperature should be between 5°C and 40°C

  • Adjacent sections that are not to be treated should be protected. such as by simply covering them.

  • Humidity conditions also come into play. If it is about to rain, when there is fog, frost and other cases of high humidity levels, first allow the conditions to pass before applying the product on the surface.

  • In case the product is being used on a surface that has been recently primed, such as with a high penetrant water repellent, first allow the treatment to dry before proceeding to apply the Faber Hidro 150.
