ASAP X-Tra Thick Black Nitrile Powder Free Examination Gloves I Why Use It
With gloves, barrier protection, finish, thickness, tensile strength and elasticity are critical. You want a product that you can rely on to protect you when you`re handling harsh chemicals, or infectious substances such as bodily fluids. In high-risk situations like patient care, activities involve exposure to blood-borne pathogens, handling disinfectants and potent reagents. From medical and dental facilities, emergency medical services (EMS), law enforcement and other first responders, nursing homes, tattoo parlours and even veterinary environments, wearing gloves is a necessity.
At the same time, you don`t want gloves that keep getting punctured while you work, or causing you to lose grip thus dropping fragile items like test tubes. It’s all about quality and functionality, and you get both with the black nitrile gloves.
What’s in a colour? Black is beneficial in numerous ways. For starters, you can easily track any white powder content and other residue that turn up on it as you carry out your medical examinations. It’s also great for messy environments, as it naturally camouflages the stains, and grime that end up on the gloves while you work. The sleek professional look is a welcome bonus. In addition, having a distinct colour enables you to manage your inventory thus enhancing efficiency, and prevents cross contamination within your establishment when you have a colour-coded scheme in place.
The Making Of Nitrile Gloves
Also known as acrylonitrile butadiene rubber, nitrile is a copolymer formed after the emulsion polymerization of butadiene and acrylonitrile. These two substances have their distinct advantageous properties: butadiene brings about the flexibility and tear resistance, while acrylonitrile improves the material’s chemical resistance.
After the rubber has been formed, it is sent to the desired industry for further processing- from making floor mats, adhesives, footwear, or for this case, disposable gloves. In the production plant, there are ceramic hand-shaped formers that are used. First they are cleaned to remove any residue, then dipped in a calcium carbonate and calcium nitrate solution. This solution will help the nitrile to solidify around the formers.
The ceramic formers are dipped in a tank containing the nitrile compound and additives like coloring agents. This coating is then allowed to dry, a process which also involves heating it to high temperatures and letting it cure. The newly formed gloves are dipped into water tanks to remove any residue and extractable chemicals. The cuffs are then rolled (beading), a feature which will come in handy later when wearing and removing them.
Treatment then follows, with processes such as chlorination and polymer coating, which are intended to enhance attributes such as the tactility and wearability of the gloves. After this, the gloves are removed from the former and taken through testing processes for quality control to ensure that there aren’t any snags or holes in the material. The tests are structured to adhere to acceptable quality limits (AQLs), where the resultant percentages are used to determine the quality of the selected batch. If they pass the rigorous testing measures, they can then be packaged and shipped.
Benefits Of The ASAP X-Tra Thick Black Nitrile Powder Free Examination Gloves
1. High resistance to chemicals
The very nature of nitrile makes these gloves offer superior protection to chemicals and reagents that you come across during your operations. These range from accidental splashes or spills, the occasional overspray from dispensing devices, to situations where you have to submerge your hands in a chemical and other hazardous liquids. The enhanced puncture resistance also comes in handy for situations where you`re handling sharp, piercing objects. Since they are also disposable gloves, this is particularly beneficial in the medical industry where the black nitrile gloves are changed in between tasks to prevent the spread of illnesses.
2. Easy donning and doffing
In a fast-paced work environment, you don`t want to keep struggling each time you wear or remove your protective gear. With the black nitrile gloves, the design makes the process smoother for you. Aspects such as a beaded cuff make it easier to don them and take them off in moments. You can also wear the black nitrile gloves for longer periods of time, and they have a long shelf life.
3. Takes away risks associated with latex
Nitrile has become popular in virtually every glove industry, supplanting latex gloves, since it eliminates the associated allergy risk. The natural rubber latex is processed from plant products, that while they offer great flexibility, it causes reactions that range from skin irritation, to conditions like anaphylaxis. This can affect the wearer of the gloves, or the patient being attended to. On the other hand, the synthetic nitrile replicates the positive attributes like flexibility and durability, without the underlying threat to one’s health.
4. Powder-free
Powder related complications can be frustrating, such as the messes that need to be cleaned off each time you handle gloves that come with the corn-starch powder included. What’s more, in powdered latex gloves, there’s the additional issue of the powder acting as an airborne carrier of the latex proteins that are responsible for allergic reactions. However, you still want the lubrication that makes the wearing process easy. The black nitrile gloves have been taken through processes such as chlorination where they are exposed to chlorine solution to make the material slicker, and polymer coating to lubricate the glove surface by adding an extra polymer layer. That way you won’t have to deal with powder issues.
5. Superb tactile sensitivity
The surface treatment of the gloves enables you to have a natural feel as you go about your tasks. The textured fingertips enable you to work effectively by providing an enhanced grip as you handle the various medical equipment. Different sizes, from XS, S, M, L and XL are available, that way one can have the glove that snugly fits on the hand- like a second skin.
6. Budget-friendly
Costs also factor in. After all, you want a quality product that will not strain your budget. The affordable pricing of the black nitrile gloves has been set with this in mind. What’s more, you can get the gloves in different package sizes, depending on the needs of your establishment. The high strength and durability of the material prevents wastage, with each of the gloves getting to serve its intended purpose before being disposed of, providing you with a value return for your purchase.
