Chimiver Ecostar Polyurethane Water Based Floor Lacquer | Where To Use 

There are two types of water based floor lacquers. One, is residential and medium commercial traffic floor lacquer and two is the heavy duty commercial traffic lacquers. The new Ecostar Polyurethane Water Based Floor Lacquer is a professional water based floor lacquer suitable for sealing all residential floors and stairs plus medium traffic commercial traffic floors. This outstanding quality water based floor lacquer is also suitable for sealing all indoor furniture, doors, frames, toys, skirting boards and other types of wood surfaces. It can be applied over all solvent and water based floor primers. It contains high levels of solids and it is known to last for many years with the appropriate maintenance. 

Chimiver Ecostar Polyurethane Water Based Floor Lacquer | How To Use

If you are planning to restore an old wooden floor, then you should start with the sanding. All pre-existing sealers have to be removed in full before a new coat of lacquer is applied. If you are planning to seal a new wooden floor, then a light floor sanding with 80 to 100 grit sanding paper is more than enough.

Step 1 : Make sure that the surface is sanded, finished properly, dry, dust free and flat

Step 2 : Make sure that you have prepared enough lacquer to cover the whole surface, 1 varnishing brush & 1 varnishing roll

Step 3 : Using the varnishing brush, apply 1 thin coat around the edges and all areas where the varnishing roll is unlikely to fit

Step 4 : Apply one thick and even coat of lacquer all over the surface. The surface has to look evenly wet but not soaked

Step 5 : Allow 2 hours to dry and using 150 grit sanding paper do one more fine sanding around the edges (by doing so you will remove all the imperfections and all dull patches)

Step 6 : Vacuum the floor until all the dust is extracted in full

Step 7 : Apply the next two coats of lacquer with 1 hour break between the coats. Sanding the floor after the second coat is not necessary but possible

***If you are using a primer before lacquering, make sure that the primer is fully dry before lacquering the floor. In this case you can sand up the floor after the primer has dried***

The coverage specified by the manufacturer is informative only. The actual coverage area will depend on a number of factors like the type of wood, the skill of the applicator, the quality of the sanding, if the floor was primed or not and the first coat is likely the cover way less than the second one. 

First coat without a primer : 8-10 sq meter per 1L

Second coat with or without a primer : 10-12 sq meter per 1L

You are just about to use one of the finest floor lacquers ever. The product will perform and the results will be impressive if the application process is respected. Bear in mind to use a flat mop to maintain your newly varnished floors. Always use proper wood floor cleaners and maintainers to extend the life of your floors for as long as possible.
