The shiny and slippery surfaces, food spills and messes that make them more risky, accidents when the cleaning is being carried out- you don’t want the customers or employees in your business premises tearing tendons and ligaments. Even at home, these accidents are common. With high-risk groups in the residence- like the kids and the elderly, the severity of the falls is more dire. You don’t want your loved ones to wind up in the hospital. From the bathrooms where wet conditions are the norm, to the kitchen there spills frequently occur, treating the surfaces to increase their non-slip attributes is key. However, you don’t want to sacrifice their beauty or structural integrity in the process. You want a formulation that will enhance the grip without corroding or etching the surfaces. That's where Faber YS One comes in.

Walk boldly

The water-based Faber YS One brings superior grip to the floors being treated. It acts chemically on the surface, to form tiny micro erosions. They will be invisible to the naked eye, but nonetheless highly effective in enhancing run-off of water, such that the non-slip attributes are retained even in wet conditions, whether one has shoes on, or is barefoot. This formulation is particularly beneficial with surfaces like ceramic tiles, plus polished, textured and natural porcelain stoneware, siliceous stone plus quartz, that get really slippery. It's safe to use on these surfaces, getting the task done without risking the structural integrity of the material, or affecting aspects like its colouration. It sets a long-lasting effect, and doesn’t even require regular maintenance to retain the non-slip attributes.

When you turn to Faber products, you are joining consumers across the world- from the heart of Europe to out in the Gulf nations, all through to Russia, Japan, and other Asian markets who have placed their trust in the brand. It’s with good reason. You don’t get to survive and thrive in such a competitive industry for over 3 decades unless you’re actually good at what you do- and Faber walks the talk. The products provided cater to the various aspects of surface care, from protection after installation, routine cleaning and maintenance, to repairing damaged installations. The Faber YS One maintains the high standards of quality, allowing you to treat the surfaces in your establishment effectively.

How To Use The Faber YS One

Begin by preparing the surface. First, ensure that all dirt and grime has been cleaned off. You don’t want to trap these substances under the treatment. Allow the surface to dry. In fact, you should never apply the product on wet floors. In case there are pre-existing treatments on the surface, like wax, polymers and resins that had been applied, first remove them. For optimal usage, the Faber YS One should be in direct contact with the floor. In case you’re dealing with a recently laid surface, or one that has just been grouted, let the adhesive or grout used to first cure completely before you apply the Faber YS One.

Next is determining the dwelling time that will be used. Here, it depends on the material, its resistance, composition and the surface hardness. The goal is to get the optimal dwelling time that will ensure satisfactory results with the non-slip attributes, while retaining the original appearance of the surface being treated. As such, it's advisable to carry out a spot test on a section of the floor which is in an inconspicuous area. Remember to rinse the surface, which will give you a correct idea without any residue coming in the way. When you press your fingertips on the floor to simulate the action of a person walking on it, you will be able to assess just how much grip has been generated. General times for common materials include: 10-40 minutes for ceramics and stoneware, 30-60 minutes for quartz-based agglomerates and clinker, and 1 hour to 90 minutes for the granite floors.

For the application itself, follow these steps;

  1. Use a brush, roller, or even lambswool applicator to spread an even layer of the product on the entire surface to be worked on. Note that the Faber YS One comes ready to use, hence you should not dilute it.

  2. Allow the product to remain undisturbed on the surface for the amount of time determined during the spot test. Note that the floor should remain uniformly covered with the product, so you should apply more and redistribute it as needed. This is to ensure that you have an even non-slip surface.

  3. Remove the excess product. You can use a wet vacuum cleaner. Here, you still want to maintain that evenness, so you should start removing the residue from the point where the application of the Faber YS One was began. In addition, the removal should take just the same time as the application- that way you can ensure that the product has acted over the whole surface for the same duration.

  4. Rinse the surface using lots of clean water.

Once the surface dries, it will be ready to use, and you can allow foot traffic back onto it. When it comes to maintaining the surfaces that have been treated with the Faber YS One, use Neugel or AlgaFloor for the routine cleaning, and Faber 30 or Deterfug when you're dealing with stubborn soiling.

Tips for Working With The Faber YS One

  • Maintaining a uniform application is key, and as you can see this goes through to issues like taking the same time when you're removing the excess product from the surface. As such, it is recommended that you divide the areas into smaller sections that are easier to manage.

  • Ensure that the area you’re treating with the Faber YS One is not exposed to direct sunlight. In addition, it’s advised that you pick a time of the day when it will be cool for you to apply the product.
