Where to use
The epic Tover Wood Stains Sample Kit is a collection of 32 unique wood colours that are likely to satisfy even the most demanding customers. The kit can be used to create sample colour patches on hardwood floors, engineered wood floors, wood furniture, wood worktops, wood toys, skirtings, real wood doors and so on. The new Tover Wood Stains Sample Kit is mostly used for indoor wood enhancing projects but with outdoor sealers, it can sometimes be used to seal outdoor furniture as well. The bottles of wood stain are individually labeled and contain enough wood stain for many stain samples.
How to use
The wood surface has to be fully unsealed. Unsealed means no sealant at all. If the wood looks unsealed but when touched with a wet cloth it does not darken up or does not change colour, it means that there is an impregnator or an ultra matt natural protector used on that surface. To be able to use this wood stain kit, please follow the following instruction:
- Do the wet cloth test and if the wood does not get wet, it has to be sanded in full. The sanding process can start from 40 grit or from 60 grit if the surface was sealed with a soft floor oil. If the 60 grit sanding paper does not fully remove the sealer, move down to 40 grit sanding paper and start from there onwards. Then 60, then 80 and then finish the wood with 100 grit sanding paper.
- Vacuum the entire area well and then make a few small squares with masking tape. Use the wood stains to create sample tests on each square. Use a different cloth for each colour wood stain. Wear gloves to avoid staining your hands.
- Apply 1 drop of the wood stain and then rub it in with a dry cloth until the wood surface has absorbed it in full. Do not oversoak the wood to avoid creating misleading colours.
- The wood stain should fully dry within 1-3 hours so then you will be able to really see the final colour. The colour of each wood stain is likely to change slightly as it fully dries and is likely to become slightly richer after the wood stain is overcoated with a two pack water based floor lacquer.
Recommendation
Do not use one cloth to apply a number of wood stains. A tiny drop of the wood stain is enough to cover a large area. The wood stain is highly concentrated. Do not stain any other surface that has any type of sealer on it. It will not dry. Do not use the new Tover Wood Stains Sample Kit on any other surfaces beside real wood. Not suitable for use on laminated floors. Any cloth used to stain the wood should be soaked in clean water and disposed of after the project is completed. Store the product in a safe place out of reach of children and out of direct sunlight.
