Why Use The Great Tover Primer PU100
Installing a new wooden floor on a subfloor base that still has dust residue or different types of residue will prove to be a big mistake. The wood adhesive will be dried out too fast by the thirsty concrete or screed base or the wood adhesive will attach more to the dust particles than to the concrete base. A coat of the epic Tover Primer PU100 fully reduces that risk, allows the natural drying period to happen, gives enough time to the floor fitter to install the floor and the glue bonds well with the base. A must use product that resolves so many potentially serious issues in no time.
Where To Use The New Tover Primer PU100
This professional sealing primer is highly compatible with any type of very absorbent sub-flooring. It can be successfully used to treat and seal all types of concrete subfloors, screed subfloors, pre-existing but highly absorbent floors that have to be covered with a new hardwood floor and others. The product is basically compatible with any surface that is likely to absorb the water from the adhesive and speed up the drying process. It can also be used on block walls where wood skirting boards are likely to be glued.
It is actually recommended that the walls should also be treated with the new Tover Primer PU100 at the same time as the floor. Up to about 20 cm from the floor level up to waterproof the block and reduce the risk of poor bonding between the wood adhesives and the skirting boards.
How To Apply The New Tover Primer PU100
This is a ready to use product so no dilution is required. Mix up the entire composition to create an even and uniform mixture. The new Tover Primer PU100 is 100% odourless and solvent free. Before applying the product to the sub-floor, the entire floor should be vacuumed well, all uneven areas should be flattened out, any cracks should be filled up and the entire surface should be fully dry.
- Vacuum all corners, all floors and even the areas under the skirtingboard.
- Use a small brush to apply the product around the narrow edges and use a large varnishing brush or painting roller to apply the sealer on the open spaces.
- Take your time to avoid missing patches. The floor should darken up in contact with the sealer so any missed patches should be very visible.
- One coat system is highly recommended but more coats can be applied. The estimated drying period is 1-3 hours but that drying time can be affected by the temperature and the level of porosity of the sub-floor.
Recommendations
Do not mix up the new Tover Primer PU100 with any extra sealers or solvent enhancers. Do not apply the new Tover Primer PU100 over already sealed surfaces or over surfaces with little or no absorption. Do not use the surface until the sealer feels touch dry. Do not create puddles or splashes of the product to prevent long drying times. The coverage can vary dramatically based on the type of the subfloor. Do not apply the product if the temperature is below 10C.
A quality wooden floor installation depends just as much on what is underneath the floor as the timber you can actually see. Tover Primer PU100 provides professional installers and experienced DIY users with a simple way to deal with several common subfloor problems before installation begins.
Highly absorbent concrete and screed can interfere with flooring adhesives by drawing moisture away from them too rapidly. Dusty or slightly weak surfaces can also reduce bonding strength because the adhesive may attach to loose particles instead of the solid structure underneath. Primer PU100 penetrates the porous base, strengthens the surface and dramatically reduces unwanted absorption without creating a smooth glazed layer.
The product can be applied using a suitable roller or brush and normally requires only one or two coats. Its quick drying formulation means the flooring installation can continue without unnecessary delays, with drying often achieved in around two hours depending on temperature, porosity and site conditions.
Primer PU100 is also compatible with single component and two component wood flooring adhesives, making it a highly versatile addition to a professional installer’s preparation system. From controlling dust and strengthening screeds to reducing excessive absorption and providing moisture protection, it prepares the subfloor for a safer and longer lasting wooden floor installation.
Tover Primer PU100 is a professional subfloor treatment designed to prepare porous and absorbent surfaces before wooden flooring is bonded into position. Concrete and screed can sometimes absorb moisture from flooring adhesive far too quickly, preventing the glue from curing naturally and potentially weakening the final bond. Applying Primer PU100 helps control this absorption while creating a more stable and reliable surface for the installation.
The primer penetrates deep into the subfloor rather than simply forming a glazed coating across the top. This helps consolidate weak or dusty screeds, binds remaining surface dust and prepares the base for better adhesion. It can also provide protection against residual or rising moisture where the conditions and application requirements are suitable.
Another major advantage is its practical formulation. Tover Primer PU100 is solvent free, odourless and fast drying, making it particularly convenient for indoor flooring projects. Depending on porosity and site conditions, approximately 7 to 10 square metres can be treated with one litre.
Whether you are installing engineered flooring, solid hardwood or parquet, proper preparation can make a huge difference. Primer PU100 provides a strong, clean and properly prepared foundation before the wood adhesive and flooring are applied.
