Remove Water Based Floor Polishes From All Floors With The Great Bona Polish Remover

Most people who have varnished or lacquered wooden floors know all the benefits of refreshing or recoating some areas that are starting to show signs of wear. Once in a while, another coat of floor polish goes over the pre-existing finish to prevent permanent damages that are likely to start appearing after a few years of daily traffic. But in some cases the refresher or the polish does not wear as expected and instead, there is a build up of sealers on the floor. A water based sealer can be removed without any problems but proper products designed for removing the polish should be used. The universal floor stripper that works well on tile floors or all types of plastic floors could work well on wooden floors as well but in some cases it can burn and discolour the floor finish. There must be a better option or a product that safely removes wood floor polish residue and doesn`t affect the varnish. There is one and it is called Bona Polish Remover. A professional heavy duty floor stripper suitable for exfoliating and stripping off up to 3 coats of floor polish at once!

Bona Polish Remover | Where To Use

The new Bona Polish Remover is a residential and professional floor stripper that can be safely used to remove all types of water based floor polish and water based floor refreshers from all types of surfaces including wooden floors, laminate floors, tile floors, natural stone floors, all plastic floors, concrete floors & other types of floors. Unlike other types of heavy duty floor polishes, the new Bona Polish Remover is much softer on the base surface, less toxic, less active and safer to use. One of the very few floor polishes compatible with laminate and wooden floors. It can be used on all types of residential and commercial floor stripping operations and also for deep tile cleaning on tiled floors where there is no sealer on. Not suitable for stripping solvent based floor polishes or water based floor lacquers. The product has to be treated with care and hand protection should be worn at all times.

Bona Polish Remover | Concentrated

The New Bona Polish Remover is sold in a 1 L bottle. To the untrained eye, such a bottle seems very small but for those that have used it before, it makes perfect sense. Depending on the size of the project and the project complexity, 1 L of the new Bona Polish Remover will strip off up to 50 sq meters of floors and up to 3 coats of floor polish. The dilution rate is 1 to 100 but it can vary from floor to floor and the amount of coats of floor polish. The new Bona Polish Remover is suitable for all kinds of residential and commercial floor stripping operations.

Bona Polish Remover | How To Use It

A sample test should be done somewhere in a back corner to ensure compatibility and efficiency. Some floor polishes could be solvent based and not affected by the Bona Polish Remover. Assessing the condition of the floor and the amount of coatings on it is the first step. The maximum dilution rate of 1 to 100 is only suitable on floors that have one coat of floor protector or floor polish or on floors that look patchy. If the surface looks well polished and glazed with a few coats of floor polish, a lower dilution rate of 1 to 50 would be ideal.

  1. Mix up the new Bona Polish Remover with warm water to increase its efficiency
  2. Apply the new Bona Polish Remover to the floor area and allow direct contact for 5 to 10 minutes
  3. Use a green or a black scrubbing pad to agitate and scrub the surface to break down the floor polish. If the sealer does not break easily, apply more floor stripper and wait a bit longer for the product to work
  4. Extract all the waste with a wet vacuum or some kind of extraction system
  5. Assess the floor and if there is still visible patches, do one more stripping operation

Bona Polish Remover | Deep Cleaning Project

Besides being a premium quality floor stripper, the new Bona Polish Remover can also be used as a heavy duty floor cleaner and grout cleaning product. It can be safely used on all types of unsealed natural stone surfaces, artificial stone surfaces and some concrete surfaces. Do not use it on surfaces that look polished or sealed with some kind of protector. Apply to the surface diluted, allow direct contact for about 5-10 minutes and scrub the floor well. Extract all the waste with a wet vac and wash the floor one more time with a neutral floor cleaner to remove all floor stripper residue from it.

Bona Polish Remover | Safety

All floor strippers and all polish removers are active products with strong burning power. Some are stronger than others and some can cause worse damage than others. The amazing Bona Polish Remover is a medium strength floor stripper but strong enough to do serious damage. It has to be handled with care and it has to be used responsibly:

  1. Do not touch the floor stripper and if an accidental contact with the floor stripper happens, rinse the skin fast and wash your hands a number of times with a quality hand soap. If the new Bona Polish Remover enters your eyes or mouth, rinse it with clean water and call for help.
  2. Do not mix up the new Bona Polish Remover with any other floor stripper from other brands to avoid creating reactions and fumes.
  3. Do not strip floors that are sealed or polished with solvent or oil based finishes. Not compatible with oiled floors or waxed floors.
  4. Do not allow the floor stripper to dry on the floor. Allow direct contact for up to 10 minutes, scrub it well and extract the waste.
  5. Do not touch any other surface that does not require stripping. Avoid spills, drips and splashes.
  6. Any mop head or any cleaning tools used in the process of stripping have to be washed a number of times before being used in any other floors.
  7. Do not strip large surfaces of floor without doing a small patch test to confirm compatibility.

Bona Polish Remover | Surface Preparation After Floor Stripping

The floor has to be fully stripped and all kinds of old sealers have to be removed before a new coat of floor polish, refresher or protector can be applied. While the new Bona Polish Remover is a rinse free floor stripper, it is highly recommended that the floor is washed a few times with a good quality floor cleaner that can neutralize and cancel any floor stripper residue that could hide somewhere inside the floor. If a new coat of floor polish is applied over a surface that has floor stripper on it, the floor polish might not be able to bond and it could exfoliate over a period of time or in some cases, straight away.
