However, for quality squeegeeing results, one needs to glide the blade smoothly across the surface. The success of this will be determined different factors. Get Your Squeegeeing Done Right

First, the basics. The squeegee is an assembly of different component parts: the rubber blade, which is the part coming into contact with the window; the channel, which is what holds the rubber, and the handle, which holds the channel and is the part that you grip while working on the window. These need to be properly assembled together. Ensure that the sizes of the units being used are compatible with each other. 

When it comes to the actual cleaning process, start by giving the windows a thorough wash. Here, the focus is on the cleaning solution being used, and the window washer- which in itself is an assembly of the sleeve and T-Bar. Window washers with scrubber ends give you more cleaning power, especially when you encounter stubborn grime. There will be situations where you have caked-on gunk on the windows, in which scenario the preferred tool will be a scraper. Note that when the scraping is being carried out, the window should be wet, as the soapy solution provides the lubrication needed for the task. When the washing is done, next is the squeegeeing. 

How you hold the Ettore Master Brass Handle matters. Relax your hand, from the wrist to the shoulder. Being tense will not be helpful, and neither will having a tight hold on the squeegee. Rest the squeegee on the glass- and this will be all the pressure that will be required for the task to be carried out successfully. Don’t believe it? Perform a quick test: Wet the glass and make a squeegee pass with gentle pressure. Make a second pass on the glass surface with half that pressure, then compare the results. Make an additional pass with even less pressure than the first two, and again compare the results. A squeegee that is in good condition requires minimal effort on your part. 

Glide the squeegee from one side to the other. Wipe the blade after each stroke. To reduce the mess from the water dripping down the window, you can hold the washer directly under the squeegee- this is especially for those cases where you’re working on the interior sides of the window. It is usually recommended that you work with horizontal strokes. Cleaning across the glass panes holds several advantages. For starters, it enables you to maintain the base distance, and gives you more control over the squeegee. It also helps in getting the water to trickle evenly down the glass, where you can even cast it before it gets to the bottom frame if needed.

• Ensure that the squeegee channel is straight. When it’s bowed or bent, it will affect its functionality.

The term "squeegee” dates back to the 1800s, where deck-cleaning tools were being used- which was basically a wooden device that had a wide blade, and scraped off debris from the boat decks. By the early 1900s, the window washers had begun using this concept in their jobs.
