Where to use
While the new Junckers HP800 Sport Floor Lacquer was designed as a sport room floor lacquer, it can be used on pretty much any type of semi solid or solid hardwood floor that is exposed to heavy duty traffic. First of all, it can be used to seal and protect all types of sport rooms and dance floors, high traffic residential floors, floors that are used by pets, floors exposed to chemical leaks and generally all types of intense use real wood floors. Suitable for indoor use only.
How to use
This product can be used on new or newly sanded hardwood floors and it can also be used as a recoat for pre-existing floor lacquers. Surface preparation is essential to achieve a smooth and steak free finish.
- New or newly sanded floors | The surface should be finished with 100 grit sanding paper before the primer is applied. The entire floor should be vacuumed a number of times and only when the floor looks evenly finished, the first coat of primer, stain or lacquer should be applied.
- Recoatings | If the surface is still in good shape but it requires a quick recoating, the entire floor should be deep cleaned with Junckers Sylva Cleaner and then screened with 180-220 grit screening discs to create some abrasion so the new coat of lacquer can attach to the old coating.
The new Junckers HP800 Sport Floor Lacquer is a two pack floor lacquer that needs to be mixed with the hardener before use. The mixing ratio is 1 to 10. 1 part hardener for 10 parts lacquer. If the lacquer is not mixed up with the hardener, the lacquer will not dry properly and it will not last.
- Use a small varnishing brush to apply the floor lacquer around all the edges and all narrow corners.
- Use a good quality floor varnishing roller or some special type of applicator for the open spaces.
- After the first coat has dried in full and only then, do one more fine sanding with 180-220 screening disc to remove all the imperfections and make sure that the surface ends up smooth and streak free.
- While the estimated drying time is about 2 hours, this can increase or decrease dramatically based on a number of factors, like ventilation, the room temperature, application method and others.
Recommendations
Do not mix up lacquers to avoid creating patchy finishes. Do not use the new Junckers HP800 Sport Floor Lacquer without the hardener. Do not apply the lacquer over wet or semi wet primers. Do not recoat dirty or patchy looking floors. The recoating is only a solution if the finish is dull or slightly tired. Do not use the new Junckers HP800 Sport Floor Lacquer for outdoor treatments. All tools used to apply the lacquer can be cleaned with clean water. Any lacquer mixed with the hardener, has to be fully used within 2 hours, otherwise it will change consistency and it will become useless.
