Why Use It
The new Saicos Ecoline MultiTop System is a truly exceptional water based floor lacquer that has become very popular very fast due to its exceptional durability, versatility, easy application and the possibility of using a number of additives to create basically different lacquers. By adding a hardener, the lacquer becomes commercially suitable. By adding an anti-slip additive, the lacquer becomes R10 anti-slip. By adding white or black additives, the product becomes a black ebony finish or a scandinavian finish. There are also UV safe additives, additives for slowing down the drying times and others.
Where To Use It
The new Saicos Ecoline MultiTop System is a water based floor lacquer suitable for residential & commercial use that will provide a truly natural looking finish that is known to last for many years. German technology at its best. The product can also be used to seal and protect wood furniture, doors, frames, handles, toys, wall and ceiling panels and other surfaces. Use the new Saicos Ecoline MultiTop System to seal indoor surfaces only. A non yellowing water based floor lacquer that will impress even the most demanding users.
How To Use
The advantage of this product is that it can be used with or without a hardener. The surface has to be dry, dustless and sealant free. Any imperfections or discolorations will be made more visible by the lacquer. All primers or stains have to be fully dry before applying the lacquer. The product has to be applied in 2-3 coats with a few hours gap between the coats.
- Sand up the surface with all grit sanding paper until all the residue has been removed and the wood surface is evenly finished. Vacuum the floor well to make sure that all the dust is extracted.
- Use a varnishing tray or bucket, a varnishing brush, a roller and a roller frame + handle.
- Pour the lacquer into the bucket. Add all the required additives (if any are required) and allow the lacquer to bond with the additives for about 5 minutes.
- Use the varnishing brush to apply the lacquer around the edges and around all the narrow spaces where the varnishing roller cannot fit. Then use the varnishing roller to apply the lacquer on the open spaces.
- Move up and down the fibre of the wood until the wood looks wet but not soaked. Then move along. Always start from the area that is opposite to the door or the exit area. Do not touch any other surface that does not require varnishing.
- Allow the surface to fully dry for about 1-4 hours after the first coat and then apply the second coat. Sanding between the coats should be done with 180 grit sanding discs. Vacuuming well is highly recommended.
- The floor should be open to normal traffic after about 8 hours. The lacquer will be fully cured by then.
Our Recommendation
Do not mix more than 2 additives per bottle of lacquer. If you are using a colour tint like black or white, mix up small amounts of additives at once. The product is highly concentrated and it will really transform the clear lacquer into a coloured lacquer with a tiny amount of additive. All areas that do not require lacquering should be protected. The surfaces that are touched accidentally, should be wiped instantly. The coverage area and the drying periods are informative only and can vary dramatically. After the lacquer gets mixed with the hardener, the mixture has to be used within 2-3 hours.
