Osmo Polyx-Oil Tints | Where To Use It
The new Osmo Polyx-Oil Tints is a new range of lightly tinted hardwax oils from Osmo. These products can be used to create a unique finish or to blend in a number of different colors. Some people could own laminate floors or tile floors in one room and wood floors in another, a quick oiling with Osmo Polyx-Oil Tints and the wood can change its color slightly to blend in with the rest of the house. The same process is applicable on furniture, frames, doors, toys, statues, etc. The new Osmo Polyx-Oil Tints is suitable for indoor use only. The product will not flake, will not glaze and it will not peel. It can be refreshed in full or refreshed in particular areas with higher traffic. The main requirement is to make sure that the surface is sealant free, dust free and dry. It can also be used at a later stage to refresh surfaces already sealed with the oil.
Osmo Polyx-Oil Tints | How To Use It
Assuming that the surface is sealant free, dry and residue free, you are ready for oiling your wooden surface. Shake the tin well to create a well mixed composition, put some gloves on and prepare for oiling. The way you can apply it depends on the surface area. If you are planning to oil small areas or frames, you can do it with a cloth, when dealing with larger floor areas, you can seal the edges with a cloth and seal the larger surfaces with a flat mop head or a floor buffer.
Step 1: Soak the cloth in the oil
Step 2: Apply it to the surface in very thin coats (just enough to see the wood darkening up)
Step 3 : Remove all excess oil that has not penetrated the surface
Syep 4 : Apply the oil on the larger area & also remove all the excess oil
Step 5 : Remember to move along with the fibre of the wood and not against the fibre
Step 6 : About 12 hours later apply the second coat (2 coats of oil is more than enough)
Step 7 : Do not walk on the floor until the surface is fully dry | Heavy traffic after 24 hours

All hardwax oils from all brands will require regular maintenance and regular refreshing. Failing to do so will result in water damage and very dirty surfaces. Please maintain all your oiled floors with professional oiled floor cleaners & maintainers from Osmo. Do not mix up a number of products and do not scrub the surface with aggressive floor pads. Use as little water as possible.
