Bona Oiled Wood Floor Refresher 1L | Why Use It
Any wooden floor that was sealed with a hardwax oil or a standard floor oil will require regular refreshing and maintenance. Even the most resistant floor oil is likely to slightly evaporate over time, wear off or get damaged due to a number of factors. That is not a problem as long as the floor owner tops up the floor oil once in a while. A refresher basically repairs dull patches, small scratches or light discolorations. There are a number of “oil” based wood floor refreshers that will require the use of a professional floor buffer and a number of pads and there are waterborne oiled floor refreshers that can just be sprayed on the floor and they will re-seal the surface. The new Bona Oiled Wood Floor Refresher 1L is a waterborne refresher, easy to use and very effective.
Bona Oiled Wood Floor Refresher 1L | Where To Use
It can be used to refresh, restore and maintain pretty much any type of oiled wood surface. Very effective on hardwood floors, semi solid floors, oiled furniture, oiled worktops, oiled toys and all other oiled surfaces. It basically bonds with the pre-existing sealers and maintains the protection of the floor intact. This product will only work if the surface is still in a good shape but a bit tired. Very badly damaged oiled surfaces might require sanding and full scale refinishing.
Bona Oiled Wood Floor Refresher 1L | How To Use It
Before even considering applying the new Bona Oiled Wood Floor Refresher 1L to an oiled or waxed surface, you should deep clean the surface with a proper heavy duty oiled floor cleaner to remove all types of dirt, grease, fat, impregnated dirt, etc. The oiled floor refresher has to be applied to a spotless and dry surface.

Mix up some oiled floor cleaner with about 1 L of clean water. Use a dilution of 1 to 10. Pre-spray the whole surface with the composition. Allow direct contact for 30 seconds and give the whole surface a light scrubbing with a flat mopping head. You will notice the dirt transferring from the surface to the pad. Repeat the operation if the desired results are not achieved after the initial cleaning.

Allow it to dry for about 1-2 hours until the whole surface looks fully dry.

Prepare a clean flat mopping system with a soft flat mop head (Bona Applicator Pad). Now, pre-spray the whole floor with the new Bona Oiled Floor Refresher 1L to create an even and wet looking surface all over the surface. Using the flat mopping system and the applicator pad, put a bit of pressure on the floor moving up and down the fiber of the wood walking back from the wall to the door. The floor has to look wet but not soaked and without any missed patches.

Do nothing for the next 1-2 hours. Create as much ventilation as possible to speed up the drying process. Do not walk on the floor for the drying period. The job is done for now. Repeat the same operation within 6 months or if some areas (like the halls) are getting more traffic than the rest of the floor, refresh only those areas.

Refreshing an oiled floor is not hard at all if the basic rules are respected. Only refresh clean surfaces and allow it to dry before using the area. Do not use a number of refreshers on the same floor to avoid creating different levels of sheen on different parts of the floor. Any dirt, imperfection, etc, that gets trapped under the refresher will be made more visible after the refresher dries. Do not spray the product on any other surfaces than the “oiled | waxed ones”. Keep the product away from direct sunlight.
