Fabric upholsteries come in numerous colours and patterns. From those having furniture that sets an inviting and cosy decor, to those who are looking to make an impression by getting a set with a wow factor, there are options to suit everyone’s decor preference. When dealing with the furniture, the choice made has a huge impact on the interior space, due to the size of the sofas involved. As such, you want to ensure that they remain in top condition. However, regardless of the style of furnishing that you have in your home or business premises, there is one issue that you are bound to contend with sooner or later: stains. These unsightly spots caused by food and drink spills, make a mess out of your elegant furniture set. It can be anything from some milk winding up on the cushions while the babysitter was feeding the little one, some coffee or tea that was spilled during the monthly book club meeting at your residence, the beer spills during game nights when the guys come over, spaghetti sauce and fast food residue as you munch away while watching the late-night movies, wine that gets over the top of the glass while you were distracted as you were nuzzling up with your significant other during the night- ink blots from faulty pens- you never see it coming. Despite one’s best efforts, accidents will eventually occur, which can ruin your fabric upholstery. It’s not just the unsightly spots. As the spills get absorbed by the material, they form stains which are difficult to remove- especially the longer that they are left unattended. Some of the materials have such as fast rate of absorbency that by the time you dash for a cloth and come back to blot it up, the stain will already have been extensive. Truth be told, there are even cases where you are constrained for time, and are forced to come back later to deal with the spot. If only there was a way to repel the stains, and make the stain removal easier- there is. Turn to the Prochem Fabric Seal.

How To Use The Prochem Fabric Seal
-
Start by preparing the fabric. Needless to say, it should be thoroughly cleaned, since any dirt and grime on it will affect the effectiveness of the treatment. Ensure that it is dry as well. In case you have just wet cleaned the fabric, give it an extraction rinse, towel it, then dry it as much as you can. There are also those who choose to apply the Prochem Fabric Seal immediately after dry cleaning the items, which works well.
-
Proceed to apply the product to the fabric. It’s recommended that you use the Prochem fabric protector applicator. Avoid working with trigger sprayers, or tools like aerosol sprays.
-
Ensure that you apply the product evenly, avoiding oversaturating the fabric. Each 5L of the Prochem Fabric Seal can be used on 80-100m² of fabric. Alternatively, you can use a coverage of 250ml of the Prochem Fabric Seal per each upholstered seat being worked on.
-
Allow sufficient drying time. This can take anywhere between a couple of hours or leaving it overnight.
There are a couple of safety precautions you should take during the application. These include:
-
Wearing protective gloves, safety glasses and an approved organic solvent cartridge mask.
-
There should be no smoking in the application area.
Note that the Prochem Fabric Seal is not to be used on carpets. It is specifically meant for the upholstery fabric.
Tips For Using The Prochem Fabric Seal
-
Before you apply the treatment, carry out a spot test to ensure that the product is compatible with the type of material. This test should be done on a hidden area of the fabric. Check for attributes like texture change and colour fastness. This is also beneficial in giving you an idea of the final result.
-
Use the Prochem Fabric Seal as it is. Don’t mix it with other chemicals and solvents, or top up with water.
-
Ensure that the area you are working in has proper ventilation.
-
Keep pets away from the area and upholstery being treated.
