Bona Craft Oil 2K | Why Use It
Many people love the feeling of an oiled floor and oiled furniture. The main advantage of using the new Bona Craft Oil 2K is the fact that this product can be used on its own, as the main sealer or for even better protection and less maintenance, it can be sealed with 1-2 coats of Bona Traffic HD Matt or Raw. The yearly refresh is not necessary any longer if the product was overcoated with a lacquer. Also, this product creates unique finishes on wood, it enhances the look of dull and boring looking wood fibers and it allows the wood to breathe naturally. A proper heavy duty two pack hardwax oil from Bona. The product is suitable for residential use, commercial use and industrial use. Being food safe, it means that it can be used as a sealer for kids toys and food processing | preparation areas. Its superior coverage area of around 40-50 sq meters per 1L makes this product highly cost effective.
Bona Craft Oil 2K | Where To Use It
The outstanding Bona Craft Oil 2K is compatible with all types of wood fibers. It can be successfully used to seal wood floors, wood doors, wood frames, wood furniture, wood panels, wood toys, wood worktops, wood stairs, banisters, wood skirting boards and other wooden surfaces. The wood surfaces have to be sealant free, dry and clean. Before sealing oil wood surfaces, the surface has to be sanded with all the recommended grits to achieve a smooth finish. The last sanding should be done with 100 grit sandpaper. Any finer sandpaper will create an over smooth surface that can absorb the floor oil unevenly. The temperature should be around 10c and the surface has to be sealed with enough floor oil to fill up the pores but not too much to over soak the wood. Selecting the most appropriate colour is essential to create the most desirable finish. Not all colours will look the same on different types of floors. The type of wood and the original colour of the wood fiber will determine the final color. Using a light oak colour on a dark oak wood will leave the wood unchanged. The same colour used on pine wood will create a beautiful oak finish. The new Bona Craft Oil 2K is suitable for indoor use only. Do not walk on the surface while the surface is drying.
Bona Craft Oil 2K | How To Use It
Assuming that the wood surface is spotless, sealant free and dry, you can proceed with sealing the surface. Only mix up with the hardener whatever amount of floor oil you are likely to use for that particular project. Please allow the mixture to rest for 10 minutes after mixing the hardener with the oil. Using a cloth or whatever application system you chose to use, start applying the hardwax oil to the surface

Always move along with the fiber of the wood not against it

Do not touch skirtings or any other areas that do not require oiling

Use a pair of gloves to prevent staining your hands

Apply enough oil to create an even coat but do not soak the floor

Allow about 20 minutes to dry and remove all the excess oil from the floor

The excess oil left on the floor will not dry and it will create sticky surfaces

The wood fiber has to absorb whatever it requires to fill up and any extra oil, has to be removed

Do not walk or use the surface for 12 hours after the initial application

You can apply a two pack floor lacquer from Bona as an extra protective coat
You are using a fine quality hardwax oil highly recommended by the professional floor refinishing industry. While the product can be used by untrained people, the safety guidelines and application instructions should be carefully followed.
Bona Craft Oil 2K | Safety
All cloth and all pads associated with the oiling of the surface have to be soaked in water and then disposed of. The static energy generated in the process of oiling (the friction between the cloth and the wood) can create sparks and can start fires.
