Where to use it
The new Junckers Water Based Primer is a multi use water based floor lacquer that can be successfully used to seal all types of newly sanded or new hardwood surfaces. It can be used to prime wood floors, furniture, frames, doors, toys, wall panels and ceiling panels. The product is only suitable for indoor use. The surfaces have to be sealant free 100%, clean and dry. One coat is usually more than enough but more coats are possible when using the coloured primer to create some colour.
How to use it
The entire Junckers range of products is very easy to use and can be used without professional tools or a lot of skill. To be able to apply the new Junckers Water Based Primer, you will need a varnishing brush, a varnishing roller, a frame for the roller, an extension handle and a bucket or tray. Decide if you are going for a clear or a coloured finish and then proceed to the application:
- The primer has to reach the wood so any pre-existing sealer or greasy spot could prevent it from doing so. Make sure that the wood is in a spotless condition, dry and dust free.
- Use the varnishing brush to apply the new Junckers Water Based Primer around the edges and around the areas where the rollers are unlikely to fit. Apply an even but thin coat of primer around the edges and then use the large varnishing roller to apply the product on the open spaces. The surface has to look wet but not soaked.
- Allow it to fully dry for about 2 hours and then overcoat it with one of Junckers water based floor lacquers or with a lacquer from Tover, Bona or Chimiver.
Our recommendations
Do not apply on laminated surfaces or floors that are not made from real wood. Do not use it on hardwood floors or surfaces that are not raw. Do not mix up the lacquer with hardeners or any other type of floor lacquers or primers. Do not use it on outdoor surfaces. The estimated coverage is estimated only and it could cover much more or much less. Do not soak the floor to avoid having to wait for a long period of time to dry. Any surface touched accidentally with it, should be wiped off fast.

The product has also received the Danish Indoor Climate Labelling, demonstrating its suitability for indoor environments. When combined with Junckers MT500, HT700, MT200 or HP800 Sport floor lacquers, it forms a complete floor finishing system that delivers excellent durability, beautiful appearance and long lasting protection.

Available in Clear, White and Nordic versions, Junckers WB Primer offers flexibility for different design styles. The Clear version enhances the classic appearance of timber, while White and Nordic create brighter interiors and preserve the natural untreated appearance of light wood species such as oak and pine. The coloured versions also allow you to colour and prime the floor in one simple application, saving valuable installation time.
The primer dries in approximately one to two hours under normal conditions and covers around 8 square metres per litre. It is easy to apply with a short hair roller and cleans up quickly with soap and water. Once dry, the surface should be lightly sanded before applying two coats of a suitable Junckers water based floor lacquer, such as MT200, MT500, HT700 or HP800 Sport, depending on the level of traffic and the intended use of the floor.
