Why use it
The sport floors, unlike other types of hardwood floors, are exposed to a lot of use and abuse. Where to use it
While the new Bona SuperSport Primer 5L was designed as a sport room wood floor primer, it can be successfully used to prime and protect all types of real wood surfaces. A fine quality waterborne wood floor primer that is mostly used to treat untreated hardwood floors in sport rooms, sport halls, sport arenas, high traffic commercial floors and some residential floors. The product is characterized by its incredible flexibility, incredible coverage area, excellent self leveling qualities, excellent abrasion properties and no reduced risk of side-bonding.
How to use
Detailed surface preparation is essential. The new Bona SuperSport Primer 5L is a penetrating wood primer that can only be applied on new or newly sanded hardwood floors. Any pre-existing sealers or protectors will have to be removed in full before applying the new Bona SuperSport Primer 5L on it. One coat of wood floor primer is more than enough to achieve that rich finish that equalizes the floorboards within the sports hall.
- Sand up the entire room with all grits sanding paper up to 100 grit the final sanding.
- If you are dealing with new floors, do a light sanding with 80 or 100 grit sanding paper.
- Use a quality varnishing brush and a large varnishing roller. When priming a large sports hall it is essential that a team of specialists are applying the product at once. A special Bona Microfiber Applicator can be a better tool when dealing with large floors.
- Allow the primer to fully dry and then do a fine sanding with 180-220 screening discs. Vacuum well and seal the surface with Bona SuperSport Lacquers.
- Do not walk on the surface for 3-4 hours after the final coat.
Recommendations
The new Bona SuperSport Primer 5L is a wood primer not a floor lacquer. It has to be overcoated with at least 2 coats of floor lacquer. Do not walk on the surface while the primer is drying. Do not mix up primers and do not apply the new Bona SuperSport Primer 5L over pre-existing finishes or wood stains. The coverage area is estimated only and can vary dramatically. Store the product away from direct sunlight.
